2nd Beta

Good news today - 2nd HCG at 21dpo or 16dp5dt = 3700. This is a doubling time of 1.63 days.

Now, I must admit - I do not know a lot about HCG, beta doubling times, etc. I have been spending a little bit of time researching it, but am a little bit lost. The ranges are huge! I can tell that I am within the normal range but not sure what this means. Is this high or mid-level or what?

Any help on understanding this would be appreciated.

I have not yet scheduled my scan for next week. I am conducting some training in the early part of the week, plus I would like to wait until it is more likely that we will see a heartbeat (hopefully), so I am leaning towards Thurs/Friday - this would bring to about 6w2-3d. I realize that this is still early, but I am leaving on Sat for vacation. I definitely don't want to wait another week and a half for the scan.

Congrats! I don't know much about betas either, just that you want a high #. Yours sounds pretty good to me

Ummmm. I am no help on the betas... but your levels look fab!

Doubling in anything under 48 hours is just fabulous. Don't know if I can tell you much more than that though!

This is great! Doubling should happen every 48 to even 72 hours. As the numbers get higher, it takes longer, but for now you are doing great!

Great news! Sounds like everything is doing what it's supposed to!

your betas look fabulous. in early pregnancy, the beta's double every 36hrs...moving on to every 48-72 later on. 1.5 days is right on target. that is great news.

Yeah, yippee and wa-freakin-hoo!

You'll drive yourself insane trying to decipher the specifics of the numbers, just don't do it. Be satisfied that they are nice and high, and climbing appropriately. Having said that, they do seem on the higher side of what I've personally experienced so perhaps you've got two in there thriving? :-)

Can't wait until your u/s next Friday. I'll have all my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Yay for good betas!

Have you been to www.betabase.info? That's a great source of info. The important thing is just that it doubles but like others have said the rates don't increase as quickly a bit later. I think you definitely should schedule an ultrasound before your vacation because I can't wait.

If mine doubles it will be a lot like yours, in two days time. And mine is on the highish side... so yours must be too!

Good luck with your scan, you should hopefully see the hb at 6+3...

Wow, that is great doubling!! Congrats again!

Like the others said, it's not the number, it's whether or not they double within 48 hours.

Yours are looking VERY good!

Congrats! The most important thing is the doubling time, like the others have said.

You can still compare your values to others at http://betabase.info/. Your numbers are higher than average, which could mean twins, or it could just mean that you're higher than average. There's really no way to know until the scan.

You're smart to put off the scan until later this week, but I think at 6.5 weeks you should be able to see a hb (or two!) Good luck, hon.

You;'ll be away for MY SCAN results. Pout. Still, your good news will give me moral support, I'm sure.

At this stage, you want to see your doubling time in the range of no more than 48-72 hours, so you're doing really well!! Don't worry about the specific ranges... the reason they look at doubling times and not just the raw number is because there is a HUGE variance between women and beta numbers.

I'd schedule your ultrasound for late in the week, but do bear in mind that most RE's don't freak out if they don't see a heartbeat before 7 weeks. Still, you should be able to see the gestational sac, and hopefully a little more than that. :)
